Mr. Coonar is very open and friendly, and immediately inspires confidence. He is very willing to listen, and very good at explaining things - including the possible downsides. His frankness was very reassuring.
My operation was intended to be minimally invasive but became a full thoracotomy because of complications. Mr. Coonar and his team visited every day afterwards and the standard of care can only be described as world-class. In Papworth patients can expect the highest professional standards but I was more than impressed by the truly caring attitude shown by Mr. Coonar and his team, and indeed everyone involved in my care.

Mr Coonar reasured me from the start, i chose to see him and extremely glad I did. The care I received was second to none right through to his secretaries. There was always someone at the end of a phone or email (even at night after my operation)

2 years ago I had the middle section of my right lung removed. Mr Coonar was the amazing consultant that did the operation.
My operation was after 2pm on a Monday and I was home on Wednesday afternoon with the least amount of discomfort.
Papworth hospital staff were very caring even though over worked. Please look after and treat our medical staff and the NHS with respect.
